Would you mind if I asked a question or two about the stages? I'm trying really hard to improve my drawing skills and keep going on tutorials, but none seem to answer the specific questions I have in mind .
Well, the boring part of the answer is practicing - the more you draw, the steadier your hand gets and better your lineart will become. This here is one of my old drawings [link] and as you take a look at the outlines you can see they used to be far from fancy... Also, make sure you have proper equipment such as a decent mouse and/or tablet so you won't be hindered by techical stuff. Then there are few tips that have worked well for me. I always make a rough sketch so I know where the outlines will be and then I simply zoom in and start doing the actual lineart. I've noticed that it's easier for me to make cleaner lines when I can zoom closer and I already have lines from the sketch to use as a guide. Also, when I make a digital painting I tend to make the canvas almost unnecessarily big - 4000x3000 pixels even. It's easier to work on smaller details that way. Plus, you can lose some of the roughness when you resize the finished drawing in the end to, say, 900x500 pixels.
It seems like I'm already doing all off that stuff! Phew! I guess all that's left is some practice! And by the way, I usually make my original pictures around 7000x6000 ! Also, I saw the dramatic change between your two pictures and it's absolutely amazing! I hope I can improve that much!!!
Thanks for the help, I'm definitely going to do a bunch of drawing now .
Why does this have no comments yet?!?! I'm mortified!! Anyway, this is just so... I have no idea how you could make such awesome pictures. I'm soo jealous T_T...
