Skyrim: Can't Resist Shiny by Isriana Skyrim: Can't Resist Shiny by Isriana
You've got a point there, Mercer. :|
But on the other hand... shiny ship! :iconlawooplz:

This one is based on those half dozen times I died because I got obsessed obtaining a model ship placed in the middle of a trapped room. That was actually the first time I encountered those fire traps, too - otherwise I would've known to shoot them down from the doorway and not dash through the burning room for some sorry artifact. Trial and error, trial and error...
I also must point out that I joined Thieves Guild at very low levels (and invested almost all my points to stamina instead of health) so the whole Snow Veil Sanctum was pretty darn deadly place for poor Bron. Never have I been as happy to have Mercer Frey by my side as at the time when I came across a room full of Draugr Scourges or Deathlords or whatever... While they focused on beating the crap out of Mercer I could shoot them full of arrows from a much safer distance. :D

Anyway, this comic was somewhat better in my head, but as it turns out it's a bit too late to second guess when you have already spend eight hours inking and coloring. Ah, well.

I saw the oil and everything, shot one of the lanterns down...and it burned the ship up along with the oil. I cried a little...then moved on because my last save was far far away. Lol.

I don't think the ship got burned along. It does got thrown about in the explosion though, so you might need to scour the room (after the fire gone, of course) to find it again.

Shoot down the fire-filled lanterns on a floor covered with oil? That's the opposite of all logic

as long as you're not standing on the oil it's fine. The oil burns through in a few seconds then you can safely walk in without any fear of incendiary death.

Or you could, I don't know, use a basic fire spell that EVERYONE in Skyrim has and use it to get rid of the oil to take the ship?

The lanterns would still fall and ignite even if you DID get rid of the oil.

Yes, but if you do them one at a time and without the oil, the damage is significantly less.

Did burning him to a crisp on accident feel better after you got to the end of the dungeon?  I know I felt better about it, and letting him get attacked by everything that came at us. Or really they just came at him. You would think for a master thief and nightingale that he would not be the one that attracted all the Drager's attention....

Exactly! He charged the damn things, when that's the opposite of the Logic of Thieves. He could have sneak attacked, and I'm pretty sure that he had a bow.

I use a basic fire spell (you don't even have to be a mage to use it it's the most basic spell in Skyrim) to get rid of the oil first, then I shoot down the lanterns one at a time. Less messy an noisy.

True, but the damage and shockwaves from the explosions would be significantly less and would keep the other from triggering if done one at a time.

My characters tend to die easily if I'm cavalier, so I learn to be sneaky and to reduce damage done to M'aiish, my current Khajiit assassin/thief.

Hey that's a pretty good Khajiit name!
Also lol yeah I get that. But I often times forget to block even though it'd probably Greatly decrease damage received. As a result my blocking skill is pretty low in most chars, and fluff wise would make them mocked for lack of defensive ability.

Thank you! I just remember that Khajit have an apostrophe in their names, like M'Aiiq the Liar. Khajit names tend to start with an M', but I'm pretty sure that you could use an N', too. Like N'aeil. But that sounds more Argonian.

I understand completely. It is for this exact reason I mostly play the sneaky peoples, and almost all of my characters have a level 60+ in archery. The only exception is my Nord, Draega. She's all about barging in with her huge battle-ax and hitting her enemies before they can raise a defense.

Oh, I tortured Mercer mercilessly (no pun intended) in that ruin. Fire traps, gate traps, Draugr hordes, stray arrows... I was very, um... accident prone. And Mercer always seemed to be the one who took the consequences, strangely enough. EVIL Laughter!

the sanctum...i closed a door and slashed at them through it and still almost died with those shouts...it's a good thing mercer couldn't die, as soon as he got up like 5 draugrs went after him and kill him instantly...i learned a very important lesson-use some of you points in the weapon skill tree

I remember that ship, and the death after i've taken it the first time. My character was at level 3 vampirism this time so she instantly died after she had taken the ship. Just forgot to feed her before entering the dungeon >.<.

Btw. How did bron react after Mercers betrayal and being rescued by Karliah?

I remember that sanctuary... Yeah, I had my health and magicka mainly increased, but even so I still had a hard time NOT dying when I was fighting all the Draugr there. Maybe it's because I have a hard time realizing I need to get into my potions... But, I was also glad that Mercer was there to take them out.

I also remember the ship. It looked pretty, and I considered taking it, but then I saw it was worth no value so I just continued on adventuring, not giving it another thought.
