As someone new to sci-fi, what tv shows should I watch? I've already seen Doctor Who and Firefly (and I absolutely loved both of them) but as far as other shows are concerned I'd love to get some recommendations. Thoughts?

If you haven't watched Torchwood yet, I think that would be the next logical step. Past that, I loved Stargate: Universe, but alas, another cancellation stopped that one in its tracks. Primeval, while not space, is very good in my opinion (Tons of dinosaurs and time travel; whats not to love?).

Definance. It's a new show that focuses around what used to be St. Louis before several Alien races came to Earth and a hug war happened. It's very good

If you are willing to read Sci-Fi, I would highly recommend reading Issac Asimov's "Foundation Series." It is filled with lots of Sci concepts that many people wouldn't even think about. Also I heard that the book version of "Game Of Thrones" is better than the show, but don't quote me on that...
